Dr. Dan Chen is currently a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Wuhan University (WHU), China. Prof. Chen was a “ChuTian” Distinguished Professor at China Univ. of Geosciences. He received the B.Sc., M. Eng., and Ph.D. from WHU, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), and NanyangTechnological University (NTU, Singapore) respectively. His research interests include data science and engineering, high performance computing, and complex systems.
Prof. Chen has published two books with CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, NW,USA. He has authored 100+ research articles with 50+ journal papers, out of which most are published with IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, and Springer. Those include 2 highlight and cover articles selected by IEEE TPDS (March and June issues, 2015), 6 highly cited articles and 4 hot papers rated by ESI (Essential Science Indicators). He also received 5 best and outstanding paper awards from renowned international conferences including ACM/IEEE PADS and IEEE ScalCom.
Prof. Chen has secured more than ten research grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSF), Ministry of Education of China (MoE-CN), and Natural Science foundation of Hubei Province. He has been supported by the programme for New Century Excellent Talents in University (2012, MoE-CN), the Distinguished Young Talents Programme (2012, Hubei Province), and the Creative Talents of Research Excellence Programme (2010, Hebei Province, China).
